GP Wind (Jangi) Private Limited ("GP Wind" or the "Company") is a special purpose vehicle incorporated on 13 September 2010 with the objective of setting up a 91.8 MW wind farm project at Jangi, Kutch District, Gujarat, India (the "Project"). The Project consists of 51 Vestas V100 1.8 MW wind turbines of 95m of hub height. The Project was fully commissioned in December 2011. The Company owns and operates the Project which supplies electricity generated from the 51wind turbines to the grid.
The Company has entered into two long-term 25-year Power Purchase Agreements ("PPAs") with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited ("GUVNL"). The PPAs are up to 2036. Under the PPAs, GUVNL has to purchase all the electricity generated by the 51 wind turbine generators regardless of whether there is an end demand by GUVNL's own customers, therefore assuring that all the electricity generated is sold.
The Project was executed by Vestas Wind Technology India Private Limited ("VESTAS") on a turnkey basis, which also undertakes the operations and maintenance of the Project. VESTAS has more than 35 years of experience in pioneering wind energy in various markets and has a global reach in 76 countries on six continents.
GP Wind is a wholly-owned indirect subsidiary of Genting Berhad ("GB") which is a listed holding company of the Genting Group, one of Asia's leading multinationals. The Genting Group has global investments in leisure and hospitality, power generation, oil and gas, oil palm plantations, property development, cruise, biotechnology and other industries. The Genting Group and its affiliates comprise of five public listed companies listed on the stock exchanges of Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. Genting Energy Limited ("GEL"), a wholly owned subsidiary of GB, is the holding company that owns substantial power generation and oil and gas businesses. GB is also the ultimate holding company of GP Wind.
